This is going to be really short and is basically for Bhagpuss and Mailvaltar.
I watched the Neverness to Everness v1.2 preview show [that’s a YouTube link; Hotta labs doesn’t let us embed their videos, I guess… I get an error when I try] today and they announced the next two upcoming characters. One of them is a dragon-person named Shinku, the other is Iroi who we met on the Island in 1.1.
So that was cool and all and I’d already decided I’ll probably pull for Shinku when the time comes.
After watching the show I of course logged in to play. I was farming the Headless Rider to Ascend Zero when all of a sudden, towards the end of the battle, I get a cut scene and Shinku shows up to save the day and finishes the fight (not that I was going to lose, darn it).
I don’t know if this is just a crazy coincidence or not. I’d never seen her in game before and I’d never had another character finish that fight before. I am assuming it was a way to introduce the character and get us hyped for her. To me, it was brilliant! I can’t wait to play her.
Of course I was so stunned I forgot to take screenshots.
There was some other really interesting news in the preview. They kept talking about a Tabletop Game and I assumed it was literally a physical tabletop game that you would buy from some physical vendor to play offline with your family or something. But no. It’s a tabletop game that your character and their friends get together to play in-game. It’s a fantasy game within the NTE game, with it’s own progression paths and gear gathering and so on. I can’t wait to try it!
There’s also a system where you can get a fish tank for your apartment to display the fish you catch. You have to make sure the water is right for the fish (temperature, PH level, and whether it is a freshwater or saltwater fish) as well as choose the right fish to be sure they get along. Apparently you can automate this stuff if you want something simpler. I guess in the same way you can shop for your Cafe recipe ingredients yourself, or automate that.
Anyway version 1.2 is looking pretty good, though a little light on story content. We’re going to have to wait until 1.3 for the next and final chapter of the fight with The Scarlet Letter, I guess.
Anyway I’d love to know if everyone gets a taste of Shinku in their next boss battle!
I read about some of this but I haven’t even had time to watch the video yet since I’ve been working all weekend. Also, I can’t play NTE until I get my PC sorted out (Again.) or replace it so I might not be able to play 1.2 when it drops. Luckily the tabletop game is supposed to be permanent content. That looks amazing. I’m not particularly interested in either of the characters (Well, I haven’t seen the dragon girl yet but the idea of a dragon girl is quite off-putting.) so I don’t mind if I miss them and no story content at least means I won’t be behind if it takes me a while to get up and running again.
As for the reason for the lack of story content, the rumor is that that they’re holding it back to incorporate feedback from the last chapter. Not sure what that’s about. Was there a negative reaction that I missed?
The next version is when the game is supposed to hit Steam. Maybe when it does it’ll end up on GeForce Now and you’ll be able to sneak in a session now and then.
If there was a negative reaction to the last chapter, I didn’t hear anything about it. Other than it was pretty short.
Shinku made an appearance in one of my bossfights too, yeah. Also, Chaos has popped up in the open world a couple of times since his banner started.
They‘re pretty good with hyping up their chracters for sure.
I‘m a bit torn on 1.2. The fantasy stuff looks nice, sure, but I want more city, dammit!! Looks like we won‘t get that for the second time in a row. I‘m honestly not sure what they‘re thinking. They must realize that the urban setting is basically the game‘s unique selling point, no?
Also, the banners will last three weeks each, so we‘ll have to wait six weeks until the next major patch this time around, not five. Which, to be fair, is the gacha game standard and still not that long when compared to MMORPG patch cycles, but still…
I never saw Chaos. I wonder if they are boss specific? I saw Shinku while fighting the Headless Rider.
I think it was the headless rider in my case too.
Chaos didn’t appear in combat, but in the city. I think those were two of the three meetings they’ve designed for every character. If you own them you get some bond points for each meeting, and can rewatch/replay them, if I remember correctly.
