Is Ananta an Anime GTA?

This is going to be really short, but Ananta is one of these upcoming anime titles I’ve been interested in. However I thought it was a social, slice-of-life kind of title with some casual action. Then I saw this long video about it and now I’m seeing all kinds of fun influences: Grant Theft Auto, Yakuza and Watch Dogs, right off the top of my head.

Take a look:

I’m now SUPER excited for this game. I just need a release date, dammit!

That’s all I got. I just wanted to share this video for folks who aren’t aware of this title.

  1. Wow! Thanks for that. I hadn’t heard of Ananta before. I watched the video and registered on the website seconds after it ended. About two minutes into the video, Mrs Bhagpuss came in and started dancing to the first song. One of the best promo videos I’ve ever seen, I think.

I was going to ask if it was only on PS5, since that’s slapped all over the thing, but right at the end there’s some small print that says all the footage was captured on PC so presumably its multi-platform. I find it hard to imagine how a game can actually include half the stuff in the video though – it looks insanely cinematic. Except for the walking animations, which are oddly stilted.

    1. Yeah I’ve cut down on my YouTube channels so all my game info now comes from Playstation or Xbox for the most part. (I used to have IGN and Game Trailers on there but there were SO many videos they just flooded my Subscriptions tab). I should’ve pointed out that it wasn’t a PS5 exclusive. In fact I didn’t think it was coming to consoles.

It DOES seem a little bit “too good to be true” honestly. Like how many systems can they pile into a game and get them all correct? But I’m going to remain hopeful!

  2. I‘ve had this on my radar for a while now, just like Neverness to Everness.

I agree though that they both, but especially this one, seem almost too good to be true. I guess we‘ll see.

    1. Neverness to Everness feels like it is finally getting ready to launch, though I’m not sure if they’ve given out a date. But yeah, I’m watching that one, too.

  3. Whenever I see girls with rabbit ears fastened to the top of their heads (unlike in rabbits, where they come from the sides of their heads, just like us), I wonder two things:

Do they still also have human ears?

Do they have two extra holes in their skulls for the additional earbones to sit?

    1. I’m more baffled by the weird-tailed girls they have now. Like Zenless Zone Zero has a woman with a shark’s tail, but it is more like the rear half of a shark jutting out of her lower back.

But imagine if the character above shaved her head and didn’t have any side ears or ear holes and how bizarre that would look!
