“There’s a star with a tail in the tail of the whale”

Mira and its tail

The star Mira is a red giant in the constellation Cetus (the Whale). Astronomers turned the Galaxy Evolution Explorer orbiting telescope on it, and found this giant ‘tail’ (the Galaxy Evolution Explorer sees ultraviolet light). The tail is 13 light-years long!
